UN Secretary General welcomes Russia’s decision to end suspension of Ukraine grain deal

The agreement, brokered by the UN and implemented through a Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) in Istanbul, involving Russia, Ukraine and Turkey, was signed in July to allow wheat, oil and other foodstuffs to leave the war-torn country for overseas markets, many of which desperately need food from the ‘breadbasket’ of Europe to ward off the threat of famine.
